Depending on your flight you can fly from Batumi International Airport or transfer back to Tbilisi to fly from there.

In the late morning we will visit the historic quarter of Batumi and its sea-front promenade, then continue to the fort of Aphasarus (3rd century  AD)- a Roman style citadel where, according to historians, Matthew, one of the apostles of Christ, was buried.

In the morning we will start our drive down to the southern frontiers of Georgia towards the Black Sea town of Batumi- a modern, summer capital of Georgia to feel the cultural contrast of neighbouring regions. On our way we explore local botanical gardens and then check in at our hotel.

After breakfast we start to drive to Mestia. En-route we stop at the village of Ipari to visit its 12th century church of St. George which features pagan animal carvings as well as different beautiful frescos. Afterwards, we arrive in Mestia and visit local History  museum which displays a fascinating collection of old books as well as ancient gold and silver icons, triptychs and enamel.

This morning we will head to the glacier on the highest mountain in Georgia-Shkhara ( 5068m).Leaving the village far behind, we walk through beautiful alpine meadows and enjoy spectacular scenery and wildflowers.

Today we will enjoy our adventurous drive in a 4 WD  through deciduous forests to the highest permanently inhabited village of Europe-Ushguli which, sheltered at the feet of the highest mountain of Georgia -Shkara (5200m) looks like a picture from the Middle Ages where dozens of dark brown towers give a mystical silhouette to a small settlement.

Reaching Ushguli, we start to walk  to Queen Tamar’s tower perched on the top of the mountain and  enjoy stunning views of different glaciers before making our way back to our guesthouse

This morning we will take a walk to the mountain of Chalaadi where we enjoy the peace and quiet of nature along with the breathtaking landscapes of Svaneti, endless massifs of evergreen forests backed by snow-capped glaciers before driving back to Mestia where we visit local ethnographic museum located inside one of the towers and learn about local life in the Middle Ages.

After breakfast we start to explore beautiful mountains and dense forests of Becho. Pastoral countryside and medieval towers remain behind us as we walk up to the foothills of Mount Ushba (4710 m). We enjoy great views of the glacier and waterfalls here, and after a picnic lunch we walk back and continue our trip to the administrative centre of Svaneti-Mestia.

This morning we will visit one of Georgia’s natural wonders- Prometheus Cave where we take a walk in an underground paradise with different stalactites, stalagmites, petrified waterfalls, and underground rivers and lakes.

Leaving Kutaisi, we continue our drive to the mysterious and fabled land of Svaneti-the northwestern part of Georgia where hundreds of tall defensive stone towers are dotted throughout the Medieval villages, erected to protect locals in times of invasion between the 9th-12th centuries. It is due to their towers, the surrounding mountains and extreme topography that local people retained their unwritten language, unique culture and ancient traditions.

We make our way up to the snow-capped glaciers of the Great Caucasus passing by roaring mountain rivers, medieval archways and winding roads till we arrive in a small village of Becho .

Today we will leave the capital of Georgia to visit the spiritual heart of Georgia- at Mtskheta- the first capital of the Georgian empire from the 3rdcentury BC to the 5th century AD. First we drive up to the mountains to visit one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Mtskheta – 6th century Jvari (Holy Cross) monastery.

Then, we drive down to the town dominated by the impressive 11th century cathedral called  “ Life-Giving Pillar” or Svetitskhoveli  in old Georgian language. According to ancient legend, the first church (4th century AD) was built on the burial site of Christ’s robe.

We continue our drive to Western Georgia via the Rikoti Pass which is said to be the borderline between Europe and Asia and we head to the town of Kutaisi which is believed to have been the capital of the Dazzling Empire of the sun -Colchis around 3000 years ago  where,according to Apollonius of Rhodes and Euripides, a group of Greek heroes led by Jason arrived in search of the Golden Fleece.

We make our way to the 12th century Gelati Academy-one of the country’s most treasured religious and cultural landmarks, then we drive to our hotel
